  About The author of The Wonder that was India:   A.L. Basham is the author of The Wonder that was India . His full name is Arthur Llewellyn Basham. He is a well known British historian. He showed keen interest in the history of India and wrote many books on it. The Wonder that was India is his most popular work. It was written in 1958. Basham was born in 1914 in Loughton, Essex, England. His father's name was Abraham Arthur Edward Basham and his mother's name was Maria Jane Basham. Both of them were journalists. He served as a professor at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London. It is said that he had taught some famous Indian historians. Among them Romila Thapar, R.S. Sharma and V.S.
